Thought I'd mention that 2005 kicks off Las Vegas' Centennial Celebration. (visit the official website.) With all the hotel demolitions most people don't think of history when they're thinking of Las Vegas. However, you couldn't be more wrong. The city is built near a natural spring and wetlands which were the crossroads for thousands of years of trade among the native inhabitants of the area.
Who knows they might even bring back Helldorado Days.
The Centennial site includes some great photos from the early days of Las Vegas. (page 1, 2, 3)
